Over the course of our lives each of us creates our own patterns of behavior, habitual responses to life's daily challenges. These patterns serve us to an extent, but they can also limit our ability to grow, achieve our goals, and fulfill our leadership potential. These limiting patterns can be especially difficult to shift when the responsibilities at work are high, the tasks to complete are constant, and balance becomes an elusive dream.
Retreats and training programs can offer spaces to begin to change, but they often create an initial “high” whose afterglow soon fades as pressures of everyday work life draw us back into familiar responses.
This is even more the case when one member of a team returns from an intense training experience to a workplace where everyone is simply carrying on business as usual, the same as always. The pressure can be powerful to revert and conform to the mode of behavior that everyone else is used to.
For these reasons, it is crucial to have ongoing support to integrate new competencies into daily practice.
